The joke about Porsche never changing the design of the 911 is, at best, played out. Yes, the car has maintained a similar silhouette over the last five decades of its existence. Yes, the engine is still at the wrong end of the chassis. But underneath that steadfastly teardrop-shaped body, a whole lot of innovation has taken place.
-You know this, of course. But unless you have a first-gen car and today’s 991 generation side-by-side, it can be hard to appreciate how much has changed.
