While many manufacturers used the "America" tag on a model or two, only one manufacturer lived it. American Motors was formed in 1954 by the merging of the Nash-Kelvinator and Hudson Motors until its ultimate takeover by Chrysler in later 1980s. AMC traded on American pride right to the end.
