-Land Rovers are some of the greatest SUVs ever made, and even though you can’t buy a new Defender anymore, the automaker will happily sell you a better-than-brand-new original 1948 Series 1 Land Rover, restored right at the factory.
-Land Rover’s Classics division will restore 25 Series 1s, and while you’ll pay quite a bit for the privilege of owning one, you’ll also be getting a car that’s been fastidiously restored to all-original spec—and likely in better condition than the day it left the factory the first time.
Each car was chosen based on its authenticity and will receive a complete rebuild. As detailed as the restorations will be, it’s understandable that they won’t come cheaply. The least-expensive ones are expected to sell for around $85,000, and will probably top out close to $112,000.
- -The offering is part of Jaguar Land Rover’s newfound focus on its heritage: Jaguar just announced it would build a revival series of XKSS sports cars, and the reborn lightweight E-Type is just stellar.

And while $100,000 is definitely a lot of money, these rigs will almost certainly increase in value. As far as cool factor, that won’t ever increase, because these things are already the coolest.
